What is Polywood?
Polywood is actually the brand name of a company that manufactures furniture using recycled plastic lumber.
Some folks refer to Recycled Plastic Lumber (RPL) as…. “Poly Wood” or "POLY"...but it actually contains zero wood particles.
Recycled Plastic Lumber is produced from HDPE plastic recycled into into usable form as lumber for many industries.
Why is poly outdoor furniture so expensive?
The Poly furniture we sell is hand built Amish craftsmen to highest standards possible. It is constructed with care and the material used is RPL. RPL (recycled plastic lumber) is more expensive than wood due the process required to make it. Recycled Plastic Lumber plants have to purchase the raw material, (HDPE Plastics from milk jugs, shampoo bottles, etc) before it enters the landfill. Then it is processed into lumber and sold to furniture manufactures. This process is more timely and costly than wood being milled into lumber.
